It Doesn't Help Yoga Mat

Berlin-based Elmgreen & Dragset have collaborated as an artist duo since 1995. Their artistic practice aims to re-contextualize or alter the conditions of how sculptural objects are perceived. The duo is known for artworks characterized by wit and subversive humour. Exploring the relationship between art, architecture, and design, they address social and cultural concerns like the decline of civic spaces. For KÖNIG SOUVENIR, Elmgreen & Dragset have created a yoga mat in a radiant blue colour that recalls earlier sculptures and installations by the duo involving swimming pools. The lettering IT DOESN’T HELP covers the full scale of the mat, subverting the joyful associations linked to its colour and questioning the benefits of practicing yoga in an ironic way.
